Jack Nelson, one of ESI's Principals, has over 25 years of experience in design, engineering, construction, commissioning and operation of mechanical and electrical building systems. Since joining ESI in 2001, he has been responsible for project management, system analysis, project engineering, field survey and system commissioning. Jack's attention to detail and expertise has been instrumental in helping our client's achieve their building, construction and energy conservation goals and initiatives. Jack has long standing relationships with many hospitals, universities, colleges and commercial clients in the Boston Metro area.

Jack has extensive experience in the design and optimization of large central chiller plants, heating plants, custom air handling systems, direct digital control systems, electric generators, combined heat and power systems and other building MEP systems. The majority of his system engineering and design work has been in existing critical facilities such as hospitals, laboratories and data centers where interruption of services is not acceptable. Jack works closely with ESI's clients to ensure that the systems which we design and help implement offer the lowest cost of ownership, operate reliably and are simple to maintain.

Prior to joining ESI, Jack was employed with Carrier Corporation where he served as Area Manager, Regional Systems Specialist and Sales Engineer. In each of these roles, his focus was to help clients design and build state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical systems including chilled water systems, boiler plants, cogeneration and air handling systems. Additionally, Jack helped his clients reduce energy & operational costs and take advantage of utility incentives.

Jack was an adjunct professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology for many years where he taught mechanical engineering courses on weekends. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
